What is a Memory Stick?

The Memory Stick was developed with the goals of recording different types of digital content and sharing and exchanging them among the widest possible variety of products.

It is compact, light, reliable and easy to handle. A wide variety of digital content, from photos and computer data to music and moving images, can all be stored on a single stick. It also offers a reliable copyright protection environment so that users can securely record copyrighted content and at the same time, the rights of copyright holders can be protected.

* Data recording/playback that requires MagicGate functions cannot be performed in MagicGate incompatible products.

* Memory Stick media consists of an area for managing data and an area for storing user data. Usable capacity is approx. 123MB in the case of the MSG-M128A(approx. 62MB in the case of the MSG-M64A).

* Memory Stick media with Memory Select Function cannot be used for copyright protected data such as music application.

* Make sure to use an adaptor when using Memory Stick Duo media in products compatible with standard-sized Memory Stick media. Without the use of the adaptor, it may become difficult to remove the media from the slot.

* Memory Stick PRO media features may vary and are dependent upon the design of compatible products.

* Memory Stick PRO compatible products can accept the current Memory Stick media.

* Certain selected products in selected categories will be able to accept Memory Stick PRO media by firmware or software upgraded. (compatible with high capacity only)

* Final design of new media to be released may change from photographed samples.

* Availability varies in different markets.
